Two posts in one.

I’m saving time and space since I’m kinda behind in posting. And I still have a mile long list of things to do today and it’s already 4:42! So I’mma cutting to the chase: here is Sam! She’s a dear and I love getting to know her, either via the internet or pie night at the Village. (;

check.her.outttt! isn’t she gorgeous?!
and now for family time. (;
I did Anita’s senior photos last fall and her mom wanted some portraits of the family. I’m just going to post a few favs…but boy, are they a good looking bunch!

love always!

milestone #27: shoot my first wedding!

Everyone has milestones in their life. Some are bigger than others. First bath, first tooth, first step, first day of school, first lost tooth, first crush, first time driving a car….you name it. It’s the same for a photographer. (Well, almost. You usually don’t have to doting parents there taking roll after roll of film to document, ’cause, well, you’re the one taking all the pictures. (; and, we’re in the digital stage. btw. not film. (; )

I’ve had my share of typical “firsts” and now I’m learning as a photographer how to handle the new, exciting and sometimes scary firsts coming my way! First ‘real’ digital camera (2008? I think. gosh, my memory is bad.), first blog post, first senior shoot….family shoot…kidlet photos….etc. I still have many more “firsts” to come, but a few weekends ago I had a very exciting first: a wedding! I’ve heard what many esteemed photographers have said about wedding photography. Jasmine Star says that it is one of the hardest things in the photography world, so it was safe to say that I went in to this nervously. But, I did it out of love and with all of who I am, gave it everything I have and know, and it went pretty smoothly–despite the constant rain outside and un-idea photography conditions inside for portraits. (:

Now: enjoy Kevin & Rachel’s wedding day!

love always!

Gonna get down on…Saturday!

Prom, prom, prom! Its what consumes the thoughts of most high school juniors and seniors. (: “My” high school had their prom last weekend and I was asked to get some pre-prom photos for some friends. It was so much fun to see everyone all dressed up in their fancy-smancy dresses and tuxes…and even a few masks! The theme was Masquerade, and some of the gals picked up adorable masks while they were down in New Orleans over Spring Break for the Chorus trip.

the rest are up on facebook!

Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think // So don’t blink.

Hello blogosphere!

I’ve been super busy these last few weeks, one of the reasons being finals. And guess what?! I’ve finished my freshman year of college! Wow! I still can’t believe it. Not to mention I’ve been busy at work and taking photos for various events and occasions, so it doesn’t feel like summer quite yet. (the fact that Iowa has decided after three days of being in the 80’s and 90’s that it wanted more rain and 50 degree weather has something to do with that, too!)

Anyyyhow. One of these fun shoots I did finals week was up at UNI, the local university. One of my closest high school friends is attending there, and she and her roommate wanted to do a quick photoshoot before their move-out date. What a fun idea, right!? Here’s what happens when you give 3 college freshman…errr, sophomores?!….half an hour, a college campus, and a sprinkling of rain!

That’s it for now. (; Check out more of the photos from Vanessa & Courtney’s Roomie shoot on my facebook page!

April showers bring May flowers;)

I am so excited that it is finally warming up, and the sun is out and shining again! (it rained here for at least a week. Felt like I would neeeeever see the sun again! I’m sure you know how I felt. Blech.) Thanks to the good ol’ sunshine that is out now, our flowers are out in full bloom, soaking up the warmth, and they are a very welcome sight! I went out to get some photos of them in their prime, and stumbled apon some pretty little violets poking up between the cracks in our brick walkway. As my sweet friend Rachel pointed to me, it is so amazing that God can take something so mundane and dead and inanimate, even, and prove His majesty and power by giving something so dainty and beautiful life. Right there, among the “dead” stuff.

and it goes even farther than that! We, as sinful people, are just as dirty and dead. But God sees our potential. Even though we’re stuck in a not-so-glamerous place, be it physically or spiritually or any other way, He sees our potential. And if we just reach up the the Son, and drink up the Living Water…He can change us into something beautiful!

He’s pretty amazing, huh? (:
